2026 Township Updates

- Trick-or-Treat will be held in Conewago Township on Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 6pm-8pm. Please use caution when travelling the area!
- Christmas Tree Lighting: Conewago Township’s Christmas tree lighting will be taking place on Friday, December 4, 2026 at 6pm. This event will be held at the Conewago Township Building.
- Improving E-Bike Laws & Safety in Pennsylvania: State Rep. Joe D’Orsie recently hosted an e-bike roundtable with local legislators and police departments to discuss the often confusing laws surrounding e-bikes, as well as safety concerns for both riders and the drivers and pedestrians around them. They explored what a new, streamlined, and more effective law could look like – one that is easier for constituents to understand and follow while improving safety around e-bike use across Pennsylvania. - Permit Email Scam ALERT: A nationwide Zoning & Planning Scam is targeting residents and businesses. Scammers are posing as local Planning and Zoning Officials via email asking for payment for permits. A common red flag of this scam is an email coming from the domain “usa.com”. Please stay diligent and verify any sender asking for payment – never send payment via wire transfer. Conewago Township does not send email invoices for payment of permits. Official Conewago Township emails end in “@conewagotwp.com”.

- As part of the 2027 update to the York County Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) the York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (YAMPO) has created a series of videos highlighting major projects across the county. Two of these projects, the Church Road/Susquehanna Intersection and I-83 Exit 24 Southbound Improvements take place in or near our municipality. The video linked shared below is for residents to increase awareness of the project and the York County TIP. There is also a short survey for residents to share their comments or questions about the projects, all comments and questions from this survey will be reviewed by the YAMPO coordinating committee. Conewago Township Office
Conewago Township is found in York County. The township consists of 24.35 square miles and is bordered on the north by Newberry Twp., on the east by East Manchester Twp., on the south by Manchester Twp., and on the west by Dover Twp.

Conewago Township
History
Conewago Township was formed in 1818 from portions of Newberry and Dover Townships. The new municipality was shaped like a wedge between Dover Township and Manchester Township on the east and Newberry Township and Dover Township on the north and west. At a later date East Manchester Township divided from Manchester Township to become the second municipality bordering Conewago Township on the east.
The township’s oldest village, Strinestown, was founded in 1800, and had a population numbering 160 by 1886.
